History of Sariska National Park
The place Sariska has a rich history of Maharajas of Alwar. There are several temples and constructions of that time. There is Kankwari Fort in the middle of Sariska National Park. This fort was built by Jai Singh II in the seventeenth century. It is also believed that Sariska was a retreat for Pandavas of Mahabharata. Sariska Tiger Reserve was created in 1978 and was a part of India’s Tiger Project. A year later, this reserve was made a national park for tiger sightseeing.
