History of Bharatpur
Bharatpur has a very rich history connecting it to the Mahabharata. It is believed that the Pandavas of Mahabharata spent 13 years of their exile at Bharatpur. Bharatpur was also the capital of the Jat Kingdom. The Jat Kingdom which was ruled by Sinsinwar Maharajas fought a war against Mughal and the British. British tried to capture Bharatpur several times but couldn’t do it. In 1825, it came under the control of the British. Bharatpur was not governed much by the British. Rajputs and Jats ruled Bharatpur for a long time. This is why Bharatpur is a home to different castes such as Rajputs, Brahmans, Sinsinwars, Gujjars, and Vaishya.
